It’s Saturday night, and Alana and her friend Porsha are at the mall with Travis and Josh.
“This is boring,” Josh says. Porsha and Travis agree.
“Well what you wanna do instead?” Alana asks.
“Anybody having a party?” Porsha asks?
“We can go to my brother’s place,” Travis offers. “He’s gone for the weekend and I got the key.”
“What are we gonna do there?” Alana asks.
“You know, have our own party,” Travis says with a big smile.
“Uh-uh,” says Porsha. “I ain’t even foolin’ with y’all. Lana, I’ll catch up with you tomorrow.”
“Wait Porsha, don’t leave me,” Alana pleads.
“Let her punk out,” Travis says, pulling Alana to him. “We don’t need her to have a good time, huh?”
Alana looks back at Porsha, then up at Travis. Porsha nods.
“I’ll call you when I get home, okay?”
Travis nods to Josh, and they walk to the car. Outside of the place, Travis talks to Josh while he looks for the key.
“I was staying with my brother for the summer cuz my mom was taking classes in Indiana.”
Travis finds the key, and he and Josh approach the door. Alana looked down the street. Her stomach started to churn.
“Hey Trav, we’re not too far from my house. You mind just dropping me off?”
“What?” he asked, turning back to her.
“Can you take me home?”
“I mean now.”
Travis walks back to Alana and wraps his arm around her shoulder. “Just come inside for a little. We don’t have to stay for long.”
Inside, Alana sits on the far end of the couch. Josh finds a recliner and the remote for the TV. Travis sits very close to her on the couch. He leans in to kiss her, but Alana moves her face.
“Can you take me home now?”
“It’s late, and I’m not comfortable.”
“I can make you comfortable, if you just relax.” Travis grabs her face and kisses her forcefully.
“No,” Alana says when she pulls her face away.
Travis leans on to Alana again, heavier, and her range of motion was limited. She tried to fight him off , but to avail. She called out to Josh, who refused to move from his chair. Feeling like it was pointless to keep fighting, Alana stopped.
